A Number of Injured as In-Flight Disturbance Strikes Delta Plane Landing at Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries following a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a company official told. Four flight attendants were injured.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they evaluated a total of five people, and transported three to a medical facility with minor injuries that such as pain in the back and head pain. Those affected were between their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the latest incident of planes being hit by turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.
On board were 245 people and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the representative said, clarifying that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
The NSW Ambulance Service reported they were alerted just three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and ambulances were standing by on the runway.
