Vinted Shoppers Express Anger About Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
